About
Welcome to The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) Oral History Collection. This digital archive preserves and celebrates the voices, stories, and experiences of individuals who have contributed to the rich history of UAH, the Huntsville region, and the aerospace field. The earliest interviews in the collection include recordings of pioneers in the emerging field of rocketry including Willy Ley, Wernher von Braun, and Walter Dornberger, taped audio recordings that were a part of the Saturn V NASA History Project, and video interviews of German rocket scientists recorded by UAH Sociology professor Dr. Donald Tarter. Continuing the tradition of oral history at UAH, the department of Archives, Special Collections, and Digital Initiatives (ASCDI) records interviews on a variety of topics with students, faculty, and members of the Huntsville community. These interviews are recorded and moderated by community partners in the library’s Digital Initiatives Lab (DIL). We invite you to explore these narratives and connect with the voices that have shaped UAH, Huntsville, and the aerospace field.
