"The Space Shuttle roars from launch pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center, Fla., on Nov. 28, 1983, carying Spacelab, an international space research center, on its historic maiden flight. Spacelab 1, a joint mission of NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA), was managed by NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. More than 70 experiments from 14 nations were conducted during the 10-day flight."
