Biographical / Historical

The University of Alabama in Huntsville Library was once housed in Morton Hall. Eventually, through growth of the campus and the library itself, a building that has gone through three phases of construction and expansion exists today as the M. Louis Salmon Library. Over this time, the library has facilitated learning and research and hosted numerous events for the campus community. Assorted groups have worked together to help the library grow in size and content and to adopt the practices that let the library run effectively.

Processing Information

Collections are processed to a variety of levels, depending on the work necessary to make them usable, their perceived research value, the availability of staff, and competing priorities. The library attempts to provide a basic level of preservation and access for all collections as they are acquired and does more extensive processing of higher priority collections as time and resources permit.
