Biographical / Historical

Philip H. Stressel, Sr., peacefully passed away on December 1, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 17, 1926, in New York Mills, NY, to parents Philo and Helen Stressel. Philip served in the U.S. Army for thirty years, retiring in 1974. His service included World War II, where he earned two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, and the Meritorious Service Medal. He was a devoted member of Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church in Huntsville, AL. Philip is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anne Stressel, his son Philip Stressel, Jr., three daughters (Elizabeth Busch, Helen Stressel, Linda Stauf), three grandchildren (Jakob Stauf, Pray Stott, and Libby Stressel), and siblings Clarence Stressel and Carol Ciarelli. He will be deeply missed by his family.
