Scope (from the Prologue): "Parks College is unique among the world's educational institutions. Its founder, Oliver L. Parks, was one of the pioneer aviators with the vision to see the need to build the College and to nurture it in time of peace and war. He proved to be even more visionary when he gave the school to Saint Louis University, thereby making it part of the Jesuit educational system. This is the story of how it happened.

As with all organizations, the Parks College story is one of many people who, using their own lives as raw material, have woven their tapestry of experiences into the whole cloth of Parks College. The unfolding of the events and the story of many of the people involved in those events have been masterfully recorded by Father Faherty. He has read widely about the school and the people. He has conducted interviews with many of those who lived through the events. He has, himself, been an observer and participant as an historian and teacher at Saint Louis University and at Parks College. He thus enriches the story with his own keen insights and analysis. He has matched text with a treasure trove of priceless photos of places, people, and planes that reflect the evolution of aviation education in this remarkable century."
