Ffrom the Introduction: "As to "hind" sight, looking back fifty years appears appropriate for my authorship, since it closely spans my professional experience. And it is particularly appropriate for a Wings Club presentation to contemplate the last fifty years, in that fifty years ago the Wings Club was founded-as is being celebrated this month.
As to the fifty year "fore" sight, my father, a noted eye surgeon, once told me it is best we not know exactly what the future holds and furthermore, he said, there is no way of knowing for sure about future developments.
We will reflect upon aviation operations of fifty years ago, present, and fifty years ahead with respect to general aviation, airlines, business aircraft, aircraft charter, air medical services, air cargo, airports, and safety matters.
1942 and 1992 can be dealt with on a factual basis. As to 2042, the crystal ball is necessarily fuzzy as to specifics. Contemplating the calibre of persons attracted to the challenges of aviation, one can be confident that the future will bring strong advancements of a technology-leading nature."
