Scope: Compilation report prepared by Engineering Division, Air Service, McCook Field. NB: The publication title was changed this issue from "Technical Orders" to "Technical Bulletin" (at the request of the Chief of Air Service) in one of the first indications that the title of technical directives requiring compliance were going to be changed from "Letters of Instruction" to "Technical Orders."

Contents: Contains short but detailed summary information on all activities of the U.S. Army AIr Service Engineering Division, as well as a survey of developments in aeronautics and aviation writ large, especially military aviation.

Format & Physical Description

Format: stapled, loose-leaf booklet, 8.5”x11” (56 pages, with last two pages blank, plus dark green cardstock covers). Printed on glossy paper. Includes black & white photographs, charts and drawings. Staples have been removed. Pages have been three-hole punched after publication without losing any information.

Publication Data

Publication Data: published "By Direction of the Chief of the Air Service" in Dayton, Ohio in September, 1922. On bottom of page 1 is text: "9-18-22-1M" which indicates booklet was printed on September 18, 1922.

Also on page 1 is this statement: "The title of this publication has been changed to "TECHNICAL BULLETIN," in compliance with a request from the Chief of Air Service, as it is proposed to issue the present series of "Letters of Instruction" in revised form under the name of "Technical Orders."

Note 1: Labeled "Confidential" on the cover. The following is on page 2: "The information contained herein is confidential and must not be published, either in whole or part, without the express permission of the Chief of the Air Service."
