From the Foreword:
1. PURPOSE. This Manual provides Air Force personnel with a better understanding of the nature and possibilities of engine conditioning for reciprocating engines.
2. APPLICABILITY. The material included is for use by flight crews and operations personnel, as well as maintenance personnel and engine conditioning crews.
3. CONTENT. This Manual explains and defines engine conditioning, pointing out its advantages and possibilities. It discusses the basic engine principles on which engine conditioning is founded. It describes the cockpit check and conditioning procedure. Finally, the Manual points out the responsibilities of flight crews in regard to engine conditioning.
