General
The largest number of observers ever assembled to conduct ground surveys in support of a space mission has been mobilized by the Smithsonian Institution for studies of the Earth by US astronauts in the Apollo-Soyuz project. The Smithsonian's Earth Observation and Photography study is one of 20 experiemnts that will be conducted in the ASTP during the nine day span of it's flight. A second Smithsonian study will be carried out by geoastronauts at the Instution's Asrophysical Observatory. Dr. Farouk EL-Baz is principal Invesigator for the Earth Observations and Photography Study.
