General
Apollo and Soyuz docked in space on July 1975. The American and Soviet space team met in orbit to test an international docking system and joint flight procedures. Implicit in the preparations for the first international rendezvous and docking was the idea that is the future manned space flight - both routine flights and rescue missions - could use the hardware concepts and history of ASPT is also a first step. Our history is to a large extent based upon oral records.
