Abstract
There is a description of this photo on the back: "Apollo 16 Earth Rise--The Earth rises above the horizon of the Moon in this photograph taken from the lunar Module "Orion" on April 20, 1972. The Apollo 16 Command/Service Module "Casper" can be seen to the left of the Earth. This picture was taken before "Orion" and "Casper" redocked following the CSM's failure to make the ciruclarization burn. Astronaut Thomas K. Maittingly II piloted the CSM. Astronauts John W. Young and Charles M. Duke, Jr. were insde the LM."
