Abstract
There is a description of the photo on the back: "Apollo 17 EVA On Moon--Astronaut Eugene A. Cernan, commander of the Apollo 17 lunar landing mission, salutes the U.S. flag during the first extravehicular activity (EVA-1) at the Taurus-Littrow landing site. Cernan is a captain in the U.S. Navy. This photograph wa taken by Scientist-Astronaut Harrison H. "Jack" Schmitt, Apollo 17 lunar module pilot. A portion of the Lunar Roving Vehicle is on the left. The lunar mountain in the background is South Massif."
