Abstract
There is an attached sheet that gives a full descrioption of the photo: Huntsville, Ala. -- Dr. Ernst Stuhlinger, director of the Marshall Space Flight Center's Research Projects Division, inspects a flight model of one of the two ion propulsion engines to be flight-tested late next year. The engines, carried within a payload capsule being developed by the Radio Corporation of America, will be launched to an altitude of about 4000 miles by a four-stage Scout rocket. One, the above, will be provided by Hughes Aircraft, while the other is to be furnished by the NASA Lewis Research Center. The electric engine development program is under the supervision of the Marshall Center, charged wtih developing and launching space vehicles for its parent organization, NASA."
