Biographical / Historical

Sometimes the SS disturbed the routine of the ordinary roll call by insisting on a general roll call of the dead and the living. One such roll call on March 10, 1945 greatly affected Léon Delarbre. He immediately sketched the scene and then completed a more precise drawing after his return home. (Musée de la Résistance et de la Déportation, Besançon)
