Biographical / Historical
In the hall where prisoners prepare the electrical connections between the rocket and its firing table, ten prisoners work together around a work bench. The photograph is clearly staged: on the right we can see one of Walter Frentz’s lights; the prisoners have also received instructions not to move in order to keep the camera from shaking. On the far right of the photograph, a young prisoner, Leon Navaro from Grenoble, is looking at the photographer. He recognized himself 55 years later when Frentz’s forgotten photographs resurfaced.
