Amy Elbert writes to Lawrence from Cincinnati regarding her husband, Paul, who has been discharged from the army and is in Czechoslovakia looking for his parents and wants to immigrate to America. LBG agree to sign the affidavit. Marjorie Kahnn of the Cincinnati committee for Refugees sends LBG the forms noting that Amy needs his stronger signature. LBG is not willing to sign all the forms that seemt to be required as he has sent all the usual forms. LBG's forms are accepted, however, he much also write to the American Consul, which he agrees to do. In April 1946, Amy sends a doll for Margaret Anne Goldsmith, LBG's granddaughter. August 4, 1948 there is a thank you letter from Paul Elbert to LBG saying that he got out of Czechoslovakia just in time. That living there, the conditions are unbearable.
