General
South American countries have all barred Jews from immigrating to them. The only place available is Palestine but they have a five-year-old child for whom they cannot procure a special permit for transport. The situation seems hopeless. On November 8, 1941, Sophie writes saying that this is likely her last letter. Her husband has died. She begs for help if there is still time. There is a letter from Ludwig and a final letter from LBG dated December 10, 1941 to Ludwig saying that there is nothing now that can be done for his relatives in Germany.
