General
Sophie Levi writes to Lawrence in December 1937 requesting affadavits for the family. She sends photographs of herself, her husband, and her two daughters (ages 14 and ) and her son (age 16). She also includes all necessary information for the affidavits. Elsie signs the affadavits. She then writes in German and there are no translations in the file. LBG writes to her on December 1938 telling her that the affadavits have been sent and sends copies. In 1939 they are in France and the goverment requires 20,000 francs to leave the country. LBG sends the information to Elsie who in turn asks LBG what to do. An E. Zivy who has immigrated to New York writes in German on Levi's behalf. Sophie writes in April 1939, suggesting that they immigrate to either Canada or South America.
