General
Isaac was chairman of Temple B'nal Sholom building committee and president of the Temple 1898-1901. He was a nephew of Solomon Schiffman who brought him to America in 1873. Isaac was in business with his uncle until Solomon died. He continued the business of S. Schiffman & Co. until 1905 at which time he sold it and concentrated on his business, I. Schiffman & Co. with his son, Robert, and son-in-law, Lawrence B. Goldsmith.
