General

MAG was contacted by a Schiffman family in Greensboro, N.C., who may have been related through Lob's son, Simon -- or through a brother of Lob Schiffman. The Greensboro Schiffmans were in the real estate and jewelry business (two brothers) who came from Birkenfeld.

First is a letter from Arnold Schiffman who turns his correspondence with me to Ruth Schiffman Bescherer, widow of Harry Schiffman. Ruth sent me a copy of Harry's obituary. I was struck by the resemblance of Harry to Otto Marx, a son of Johanna and Heinrich Marx who perished in the Holocaust (reference the collection papers donated to the Holocaust Museum on the children of Johanna and Heinrich Marx). The resemblance is striking as though they were twincs. I sent a copy of the picture of Otto and his family to Ruth Becherer but never recieved a response. The family member mentioned in the letter, Simon Schiffman of Greensboro, may have been one of the sons of Lob and Hendel Schiffman.
